join the ersam lab

Interested in remote sensing and land surface modeling? We are a friendly group interested in doing good science in a supportive setting. The lab code of conduct can be viewed here to get a sense of how we work.

The ERSAM Lab is always (funding dependent) looking for enthusiastic undergraduate students to help on projects - email Kyla if you're interested. For graduate research check out the MSU Geo grad info page for more info about the department, and you may also be interested in the Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior (EEBB) Interdisciplinary Graduate Program. If you're just starting to think about graduate school, there are a number of great 'how to prepare for grad school' articles online. Here's a great one from Dr. Jacquelyn Gill.

Kyla is also happy to work with anyone interested in applying for a postdoctoral fellowship, like those from NOAA, NSF, etc. In fact, here's a list of postdoctoral fellowships you might consider if you're interested in climate change, climate change policy, biology in general, and other things we like to think about:
  • NOAA Climate & Global Change
  • NOAA PACE
  • NSF Bio
  • NSF SBE (where Geography lives)
  • James S. McDonnell Foundation (complex systems)
  • Life Sciences Research Foundation
These are all fellowships where you can take the funding wherever you choose (are there others I've missed?). There are, of course, lots of other fellowships to work at federal agencies, etc, that you should definitely check out if you're applying for postdocs.
